Coalition Awards Grassley with Accountability for Middlemen Award
The PBM Accountability Project of Iowa recently awarded Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) with the Accountability for Middlemen Award for his continued leadership on needed policy changes to reform PBM business practices. Grassley has led efforts to improve transparency and oversight of pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) and hold these corporate middlemen publicly accountable for their role in driving up prescription drug costs.
“Senator Grassley and his team have led the charge on PBM transparency and accountability for many years,” said Iowa Pharmacy Association Executive Vice President & CEO Matthew Pitlick. “We are grateful for his efforts to help protect Iowa’s independent pharmacies and patients from the unfair, harmful business practices PBMs employ. We look forward to his continued leadership in 2026 and hope to see meaningful PBM reforms advance early next year.”
